Platte County commissioners set December budget hearings, approve audit extension, grants and several contracts

Platte County commissioners on Nov. 3 approved a slate of hearings, contracts and grant agreements, including two public hearings on proposed budget amendments and a one‑year extension of the county's independent audit contract.
Kevin Robinson, Platte County auditor, asked commissioners to schedule public hearings for proposed budget amendments: Resolution 2025RES079 is set for Dec. 1 at 10 a.m., and Resolution 2025RES080 for Dec. 15 at 10 a.m., with proposed amendments to be published in advance. The commission voted to authorize each public hearing on individual roll calls (both carried 3–0).
Robinson also presented 2025CO136, a revised independent audit services agreement authorizing a one‑year extension with RSM US LLP for the audit period ending Dec. 31, 2025. Robinson said the revised contract reflects a one‑year extension and noted a budget impact included in the packet. The commission approved the extension by unanimous vote (3–0).
The board approved County Commission Order 2025CO150, accepting federal and state justice assistance funding and related subaward agreements tied to the 2025–26 JAG program. Sergeant Destry Camp Heffer of the Platte County Sheriff's Office said the total award is $488,161.82, with the state portion presented as $288,015.54 and the federal portion as $200,146.39. He said funds already exist in the 2025 and 2026 budgets; the motion carried 3–0.
Commissioners also approved a professional services agreement with attorney Hannah Lucas (2025CO152), an addendum to a Lineage Connect LLC printing agreement for senior tax‑freeze postcards (2025CO151), and several public‑works items: award of the Crooked Road South bridge project bid to Wheedle Construction Inc. for $1,084,921.75 (2025CO146) funded primarily through an 80% BRO grant and soft‑match credits; purchase of a 2026 Roadgroom unit from Roadgroom Manufacturing with a $10,000 trade‑in allowance (2025CO147); and an engineering services agreement with BHC Inc. to design and inspect repairs for failing retaining walls at a county facility (2025CO148). All motions passed unanimously by roll call (3–0).
No public comments were recorded and the commission adjourned after the business items were concluded.
