At its March 18, 2025 meeting the Lowry City Board of Aldermen unanimously approved a budget amendment to fund $15,492 in equipment and outfitting expenses for a new police vehicle, adopting Bill 2025-03 as Ordinance 2025-03.
Alderman Sean Langston explained that the city planned to use funds budgeted in prior years for the police department that were not spent, allowing the board to amend the budget rather than seek new revenue. The board completed the first and second readings by title only and adopted the ordinance by unanimous roll-call vote.
During the same meeting the clerk noted a workers' compensation renewal included with the bills presented represented a roughly 30% increase from last year; the board approved the presented bills unanimously.
Outcome and next steps: The budget amendment is approved and recorded as Ordinance 2025-03. City staff will proceed with outfitting the new patrol car; the police chief reported the new vehicle is at the outfitter and work is underway to prepare it for service.
