Cookeville ' The Cookeville City Council on June 18 approved a proposed right-of-way exchange to facilitate an extension of Guardian Way that will serve a Veterans Affairs clinic under construction off Neal Street.
Mr. Ward said the final alignment eliminates the existing cul-de-sac, creates excess city right-of-way to be conveyed to adjacent property owners and requires the city to accept small conveyances from the Shank properties (Golden Oak dentistry) and Cookeville Church of Christ. "The proposed exchange would allow the city to deed excess right-of-way to the adjacent property owners where appropriate, and in return, those property owners would deed the needed right-of-way to the city for this Guardian Way alignment," Mr. Ward said.
Staff noted utility department requirements: the water quality control department requires preserving existing easements, and the energy department needs a 10-foot utility easement along the south side of Guardian Way to be retained through the exchange. The council moved, seconded and approved the authorization for the city manager to execute the necessary deeds and documents by a 5-0 vote.
