Cookeville City Council on May 21 authorized an agreement with Cookeville Regional Medical Center (CRMC) to provide employee wellness screenings in 2026 at a covered cost of $63 per employee.
A city staff presenter told the council the program—previously approved in 2025—covers basic wellness screenings including lipid profile, basic chemistry panels and a PSA test, and that employees may purchase additional tests at their own cost. "There are no changes from the agreement approved in 2025. The cost remains the same at $63 per employee," the presenter said. Staff estimated participation typically exceeds 200 employees and said the city spent about $9,000 last year on the program.
Vice mayor Eldridge moved approval and councilman Baji seconded; the council voted 5-0 to approve the agreement. Staff said the covered cost applies to current employees only and that spouses or retirees who participate pay their own charges if they opt in.
