Frederic board approves Family Days permits, street closures and liquor-license extension

The Frederic Village Board on May 11 approved multiple permits and street-closure requests for this year’s Family Days, including a liquor-license extension for the Friendly Tavern and closures for a car show and other events.
Jeremy, manager of the Friendly Tavern, asked the board to extend the tavern’s liquor license to cover the sidewalk outside the tavern, Traffic Avenue and the area across the street during the Family Days street dance. The board approved the extension (motion by Brad Harlander; second Jackie Peterson).
Jeremy also requested closing Traffic Avenue for Family Days from Friday at 6 p.m. to Sunday at 12 p.m.; the board approved that closure (motion by Brad Harlander; second Randy Crandell).
The board approved a request to close Oak Street E on Saturday during Family Days from Wisconsin Avenue to Lake Avenue for the car show; B Struck will coordinate barricade setup with Chamber staff.
Erin Hornbeak of the Frederic Area Chamber told the board the Chamber will handle signs for bathrooms, porta-potties and the sawdust pile and will coordinate other needs with Public Works. The board said the Chamber should be responsible for those items.
Separately, Jeremy requested permission to close the one-way section of Traffic Avenue from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on eight Thursday evenings this summer for a Corn Hole League; Chief Sams said he would coordinate with Jeremy, and the board approved the temporary closures (motion by Brad Harlander; second Randy Crandell).
No fees, insurance requirements or permit conditions were recorded in the minutes; the approvals were recorded as motions with the outcome “Vote: Carried.”
