South Hill Town Council voted May 11 to accept a staff recommendation to award the gateway and wayfinding signage design-build contract to XTreme Signs.
Town Manager Keli Reekes told council the Town received proposals from three firms for the Gateway and Wayfinding Signage Program identified in the Reimagine 2032 Downtown Revitalization Plan. Staff recommended XTreme Signs based on project approach, alignment with the town's branding and overall cost.
Council discussed the proposed timeline, the planned gateway sign locations and whether to include Highway 47 in future gateway signage plans. Councilor Delores Luster moved to accept XTreme Signs' proposal and to authorize the Town Manager or her designee to sign all relevant documents; Councilor Ashley Hardee seconded. The motion carried by roll call with seven ayes.
The minutes do not include the contract dollar amount or an exact project timeline. Staff indicated plans will be shared with council as design work progresses.
