Pilot Grove council hears meter-software and sidewalk updates, approves building permit; no bids for storage repairs

At the Aug. 11 meeting Kaleb Breshears of Core & Main and Jeff Price, the city's IT technician, updated the Board of Aldermen on new meter-software and confirmed it is compatible with a new clerk computer scheduled for installation in October; no action was taken on the software update.
Patrick Skain of Bartlett & West reported the Sidewalk Project easements have been obtained; the council took no action at this meeting on project implementation.
The council approved a building permit for a shed/garage at 120 3rd Street on a motion by Council Member Bradley Vollmer, seconded by Kathy Waller (vote 4-0). Council members also discussed advertised bids for storage building repair/replacement and noted no bids had been received as of the meeting; no award or action occurred.
The minutes record that a sewer rate hearing was held prior to the council meeting and was discussed during the session; the council took no action on sewer rates at this meeting. Mayor Dennis Knipp raised the possibility of a city celebration for the United States' 250th anniversary on July 4, 2026, but members agreed there was insufficient time to organize such an event this year.
The council scheduled its next regular meeting for Sept. 8, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. and adjourned.
