The Clifton Town Council on Nov. 12 voted unanimously to draft a formal letter opposing any proposal to remove the remaining ambulance based at the Clifton Fire Station.
Town Administrator Laura Jane Cohen said she had discussed the matter with staff in the office of County official Pat Herrity and that there was not an actual proposal on the table; nonetheless she recommended a letter campaign to discourage the idea from arising. CM Jay Davis moved that the council draft and sign a strongly worded letter condemning the idea; CM Steve Effros seconded the motion, and the council approved it by poll 6-0.
Council did not vote on any operational changes to emergency services during the meeting; the action approved was to prepare and circulate a letter to relevant parties. The Administrator said she would draft the letter and work with Mayor Tom Peterson on its final wording and recipients. The minutes record the council’s unanimous support of the direction.
