Clifton council approves two residential use permits and agrees to amend stormwater MOUs with county

The Clifton Town Council on Nov. 12 approved two preliminary residential construction use permits and signaled support for updated stormwater management agreements with the county.
The Planning Commission recommended approval for a proposed addition, porch and deck at 7223 Dell Ave., which will involve 1,885 square feet of land-disturbing activity; CM Screen moved to approve the Use Permit and the motion passed 6-0. The commission also recommended approval for a deck replacement and expansion at 12651 Water Street, involving 2,479 square feet of land disturbance; CM Davis moved and the council approved that permit 6-0.
Commission leadership told council that approvals carry standard conditions: applicants must obtain all county building permits and submit a final use permit on completion of construction, no later than two years after approval, and work must conform to the plans and the issued Certificate of Appropriateness.
The Planning Commission also reported that the County requested amendments to the Town’s Memoranda of Understanding on Stormwater Management and Erosion & Sediment Controls to reflect changes in state law and corresponding county ordinance updates. The commission recommended the Town agree to amend and enter new MOUs; CM Davis moved the council to do so and the motion passed unanimously. The minutes note the council may refer the documents to the Legal Committee and anticipate possible legal fees associated with review.
All approvals were recorded by poll as unanimous. Next steps include applicant submission of final permits at the close of construction and further council review of draft MOU language as it moves through committee and legal review.
