Staff (Clerk, S5) presented tax-collection reports showing $896.50 outstanding for 2022 and $20,228.69 outstanding for 2023, with overall collection rates reported near 95%. A tax release in the amount of $30.32 was placed before the council; a motion and second were recorded and the release was approved.
Council members and staff then discussed surplus police vehicles—two older Ford Tauruses (model years 2014 and 2016) that have been cycled out. Staff recommended disposing of the vehicles via a private sale or negotiated sale by the town manager or the manager's designee rather than a formal sealed bid process. Staff noted the vehicles have roughly 100,000 miles and are showing maintenance needs; interested buyers were invited to contact town staff.
No further action was taken on the overall tax-collection policy at the meeting; staff reiterated statutory requirements under local fiscal controls and provided the packet with outstanding balances for council review.
