The Joint Review Board for the City of Brookfield on Oct. 13 adopted resolutions creating Tax Increment District No. 9 and approving Amendment Two to Tax Increment District No. 8, confirming the statutory criteria required for those actions and acknowledging expected district termination dates.
Director of Community Development Dan Ertl summarized recent Common Council actions that prompted the board’s consideration, saying the council approved the creation of TID No. 9, the second amendment to TID No. 8, and tax-increment financing agreements with Hephestus (Irgens) and the Brookfield Convention and Visitors Bureau. Member John Fellows moved to adopt the TID No. 9 creation resolution and Member Mary Wacker seconded; the motion carried 5-0. Member Andrew Thelke moved to approve Amendment Two to TID No. 8, Member Kristine Golz seconded, and that motion also carried 5-0.
The board’s resolutions explicitly noted that the statutory criteria for creating or amending a tax incremental district had been met, and members acknowledged the expected termination date for the newly created district. Member Mary Wacker thanked Director Ertl and Mayor Steven Ponto for presenting information to the Elmbrook School Board prior to this action.
No public testimony or substantive opposition was recorded in the meeting transcript. The board’s approvals formalize the Joint Review Board’s concurrence with Common Council decisions and permit the city to proceed with the associated tax-increment financing agreements that were described in staff’s presentation.
The Joint Review Board moved next to accept the city’s annual TID report. All formal votes in this agenda section were recorded as 5-0.
