Afton council approves final plat for Afton Sky Ranches Addition with conditions

The Afton Town Council on Sept. 16 approved the final plat for the Afton Sky Ranches Addition, following Planning & Zoning’s recommendation and several stated conditions.
Town Administrator Violet Sanderson presented the final plat, which is the culmination of the development’s previously approved master plan and preliminary plat from July 2022. Planning & Zoning recommended approval with conditions requiring that any significant alterations to the plat will require further permitting; that all existing and proposed public improvements (storm drainage, water, sewer, gas, electric and telecommunication easements) be shown on the final plat; that the developer provide performance surety equal to 125% of anticipated water improvement costs before the mayor signs the plat; and that a developer’s agreement covering agreed infrastructure and maintenance be executed and recorded prior to mayoral signing.
Council Member Abby Humes moved to approve the final plat with those findings and conditions and to authorize the mayor to sign the final plat once the conditions are met; Council Member Will Wilkes seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
The council’s approval advances the subdivision toward final recording and subsequent construction of required public improvements subject to the listed financial and permitting conditions.
