Dave Kennington, representing Sunrise, presented Avail Valley Construction — WY LLC’s payment application for $164,899.10 for the Afton 2024 Street Improvements Project, which the council approved unanimously. Public Works Director J.R. Nield then presented two bids to install fiber and electric conduit in the Afton Cemetery; the council accepted the $3,380 bid from Precision Cable Plowing, LLC.
Nield told the council the department’s equipment is in poor condition and recommended purchasing a plow truck and a motor grader; the council approved a not‑to‑exceed authorization of $220,000 from reserve funds to acquire those vehicles, noting a potentially cost‑effective plow truck available from the Town of Alpine.
Those votes were unanimous; council members instructed staff to complete procurement and return with purchase details as needed.
