The Afton Town Council on Sept. 16 approved a resolution authorizing the town to proceed with purchase steps for the Los Cabos building at 453 Washington Street and extended the buyer’s due diligence period.
Mayor Jeff Jensen told the council the town had an accepted offer for 453 Washington in the amount of $356,500 and that a commercial inspection was scheduled for Sept. 17. At the meeting the council approved Resolution 2024‑06 authorizing the purchase and voted to extend the due diligence period to Friday, Sept. 20, 2024, with either the mayor or the town administrator authorized to sign related documents.
After an executive session that the council said produced no action, members voted to have the town attorneys draw up a purchase agreement and to allow the mayor to sign the purchase offer on the town’s behalf. Council Member Abby Humes moved the post‑session action and Council Member Michael Butler seconded; those motions carried unanimously.
The council’s actions are procedural approvals allowing staff and the town attorney to complete contract preparation and inspections; no final closing date was announced at the meeting.
