At its May 8 meeting the Galesville City Council approved a series of routine but material items: temporary Class B beer licenses and operator licenses for the Old Main Cultural Center (May 25) and the Galesville Lions Club (July 4), street use permits for the July 4 event, capital requests for Marinuka Manor totaling $15,770.82 ($4,500 masonry and $11,270.82 steamtable and installation), and a Certified Survey Map for Ridgeview Estates lots 9-13 that reconfigures five lots into four larger lots.
Library Director Laura Oanes presented a Memorandum of Understanding with the Library Board outlining building management and maintenance responsibilities; the council approved the MOU and asked staff to develop a room-use and shared-calendar policy for future council review. Mayor Thatcher's appointment of Jean Seely to the Historic Preservation Commission was approved.
The council also approved Accounts Payable and Manual Checks for multiple funds totaling $343,685.42. Several votes included abstentions where conflicts were noted, for example Rob Grover abstained on some event-related votes and Jesse Swing abstained on votes affecting his development interests.
Next steps: staff to return with the room use and shared calendar policy for the library; standard permit and licensing follow-up by city clerk and departments.
