Council members approved dates for community events in 2025 and clarified the town’s approach to event fees. Staff said the calendar is divided into two sets of dates: an initial set to be approved fee-free and a second set (later dates) to be approved pending completion of applications and payment of any applicable fees. "These items, if approved, would be fee-free," Staff member said when outlining the requests.
Staff explained past practice of waiving fees for nonprofit community events and said the council will revisit and formalize fee policy during upcoming budget sessions. The council moved and seconded the motion to place the first set of dates on the calendar; later the second set was approved on the condition that organizers complete applications and pay fees as required before the new fiscal year. The recorded tally for the motion was 5–0 in favor.
The council also discussed a May 30 park use request from Allegheny for a "Unity in the Park" event (no associated assistance requested), and staff recommended approving the request consistent with past practice of no-charge community events. Staff said the town’s special-activity application currently has charges only for exclusive shelter or stage reservations and that full-park pricing would be determined as staff updates the fee schedule during budget deliberations.
Council members asked staff to check with counsel on stipulations and to ensure applications and any new fee rules are in place before fees become enforceable. The council’s immediate action places the dates on the official calendar but preserves the town’s ability to require applications and fees when the new schedule is established.
