Access For All'Mahwah members record budget plans, review Ordinance No. 2042 and set holiday event calendar

Access For All ' Mahwah members met Dec. 3, 2024, recorded attendance and moved to approve the minutes from Nov. 12, 2024; Jessica LoPiccolo moved to approve the minutes and Katie Ross seconded the motion.
Denise Shabet, identified in the minutes as the treasurer, presented the financial report and the draft 2025 budget and said she would submit the 2025 budget to finance; she also told members she will be absent in January and that Maryann Mauro will serve as backup. "Denise presented the Treasures Report and the budget. She will submit the 2025 budget to finance," the minutes state.
Members discussed administrative and event logistics. Michelle Paz, listed in the attendance as a councilperson, distributed printed copies of "Ordinance No. 2042 for AFA" and members raised questions about some of the ordinance wording. Volunteers and task assignments were recorded for upcoming events: Jessica LoPiccolo agreed to procure two trays of cookies for the group's Ugly Sweater party; the group's backdrop had not yet arrived; and a T-shirt order was pending approval.
The minutes note outreach and fundraising items: the commission discussed adding donation language to event fliers, having Scott (the DJ) make announcements at events, and mailing thank-you cards to vendors; the Kuntz family made a donation to support theater-related activities. Katie Ross reported there are 107 membership forms and is compiling them in an Excel spreadsheet to track membership.
The group reviewed recent activities and confirmed a busy holiday schedule. Recent events recapped included a Nov. 17 Turkey Bowl at Oakland Lanes, a Nov. 20 Mahwah High School play offered free to AFA members, and a Nov. 30 trip to see Wicked at the township theater supported by a member family donation. The commission confirmed upcoming events including Dec. 5 Commons Holiday Party; Dec. 7 Ramsey 125th Holiday Parade with an AFA-RIFE march; Dec. 8 Mahwah Winter Fest and parade; Dec. 13 Ugly Holiday Sweater party with DJ Scott and Santa; Dec. 28 a screening of "Mufasa" (Lion King) at the Township Theater; and Jan. 10 Zumba with Shay and DJ Scott.
Katie Ross also proposed improving outreach by bridging case managers to Lisa Rizzo to raise awareness of AFA programs; Trista Daveniero announced a strategic planning meeting set for Dec. 16 at 6 p.m. at JK. The meeting adjourned at 9:15 p.m.; the minutes note the next meeting will be held in person at the Mahwah Senior Center on Dec. 3, 2024, at 7:00 p.m.
The minutes are largely administrative: they record motions, assignments, event dates and a planned budget submission but do not record a formal vote tally for the motion to approve minutes or a final decision on Ordinance No. 2042 wording.
