Mountain Lake Park council backs MD 135 pedestrian and bicycle pathway; zoning amendment hearing set

Sierra, representing the Garrett County Courthouse, presented information on the MD 135 pathway project. After the presentation, Mayor Don Sincell introduced Resolution 2026-01. Councilmember Jeff Hovis moved to accept the resolution; Pam Nelson seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The council also completed routine business: it approved the meeting agenda, the minutes of the Feb. 5 regular meeting, and accepted the financial report for Feb. 28, each by unanimous vote.
Separately, Councilmember Fred Callis moved to change the FY27 tax rate to the constant-yield rate of $0.3517 per $100 of assessed value; Patrick Damon seconded the motion. The transcript records the motion and second but does not record the council's vote or the final outcome for that item.
Mayor Sincell introduced an amendment to Zoning Ordinance No. 2021-01 concerning renewable-energy sources and announced a public hearing on the amendment set for April 2, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.
