New Windsor council approves $19,200 in well work as sewer lining and MDE inspection loom

The New Windsor Town Council voted to approve $19,200 in work on local wells during its Oct. 21 work session.
Town Manager Dye presented an MDE (Maryland Department of the Environment) water appropriations modifications packet covering Hillside and Dennings wells and said the recommended work would allow increased water appropriations and improve operational efficiency. The council approved Alexandrea Well pricing for the work — adding 110 feet of pipe at Hillside for $2,600, Dennings well development for $3,600, sealing unused portions for $3,000 and installing a new pump and components at Dennings for $10,000 — on a motion by Councilmember William Holl, seconded by Councilmember Kevin Cornick. The motion passed 5-0.
Dye also gave a public works update: a mini excavator was expected for delivery the following day and Pleasant Construction will continue sewer lining for approximately two weeks. He said the town is scheduled for an MDE water inspection on the coming Thursday.
The approved well work is intended to support existing consumers and improve operating efficiency, according to the staff presentation. The council did not attach additional conditions to the approval during the session.
Procedurally, Councilmember Holl moved to approve the Sept. 16 meeting minutes earlier in the session; that motion, seconded by Councilmember Connor Frock, also passed 5-0. The council adjourned at 7:39 p.m.
