Town Clerk Shawne Southard told the Bogue Town Council on March 17 that Representative Celeste Cairns had filed legislation to repeal ‘NC Downzoning,’ matching the town’s earlier Resolution to Repeal Downzoning of NC Session Law 2024-57 Subpart III-K, Section 3K.1. Southard said multiple towns and counties have requested the repeal.
Southard presented the update as new business; the council did not take a formal vote on the matter during the March 17 meeting. The filing was presented as an item of information relating to state-level legislation the town had sought at its February meeting.
The council recorded no further local action or direction to staff regarding the state bill at this session.
