Mayor Robert O’Chat presented the draft and invited questions. Town Clerk Barbara Owens reported that total cash funds for the town are $670,375. Owens said sales tax revenue had been received through March, property tax receipts through April, vehicle tax through March and utilities-franchise tax through the fourth quarter. When asked about a hurricane-damage line item from last year, Clerk Owens said it was $30,000 in FY 2025–26. Attorney Boggs asked about whether a revaluation update had been completed; Mayor O’Chat said no information on revaluation was available at the meeting.
No budget vote was taken on May 14; councilmembers will consider the draft and vote at their June 15 meeting. The council did not add specific new budget line items or changes to the draft at the May 14 session, and the clerk indicated prior-year street-sign updates were included in FY 2025–26 rather than the draft under review.
