Stanley appoints five to ABC Board, adopts quarterly newsletter advertising policy

The Stanley Town Council on May 5 moved forward on two governance items: appointing members to the ABC Board and adopting a quarterly newsletter advertising policy.
Town Manager Steven Denton reported 13 applicants for the ABC Board and the council discussed expanding the board from three to five members to leverage the applicant pool and support the launch of a town ABC store. Council Member Corey Kelly nominated five individuals — Gerald Mashaw, Jeremy Risha, Victor Sheets, Gregory Dimmer and Joshua Pendergraft — and the council approved the appointments by a 4‑1 vote, with Council Member Brendan Sweeney dissenting because he did not support all five nominees.
Separately, Denton presented a quarterly newsletter advertising policy developed with local businessperson Greg Dimmer to promote small businesses. The newsletter will be distributed with water bills; printing and distribution using a third‑party service is estimated at approximately $500 per issue, to be split among up to four participating advertisers so the town incurs no expense. Council approved launching the newsletter with the June mailer.
