Stanley authorizes town to join federal PFAS litigation to pursue remediation costs

The Stanley Town Council voted unanimously May 5 to authorize the town to join federal litigation concerning PFAS contamination.
Town Manager Steven Denton told the council the resolution authorizes the Town of Stanley to participate as a plaintiff in ongoing federal litigation related to per‑ and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and directs the Town Attorney and Town Manager to take necessary legal actions. Denton said the move aims to hold manufacturers accountable and recover costs related to testing, treatment and potential remediation of the town’s water systems.
Council Member Marsha Miskelly moved to approve the resolution and Council Member Chase Hannifin seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
