Commissioners set Friday deadline to submit rankings for Snyder Park proposals

Commissioners at a July 6 City Commission workshop approved a motion requiring each commissioner to submit ranked evaluations of four shortlisted proposals for Snyder Tennis Park by Friday at 5 p.m.
The motion was made and seconded during the final portion of the workshop; the voice vote carried with an "aye." The deadline follows staff guidance that rankings will be used to determine which developer(s) move to negotiated due diligence or financial phases of the public-private partnership process. Procurement staff noted the RFP text contemplates advancing top-ranked firms to the next phase; staff also explained the manager intends to open negotiations with the top-ranked proposer and later return any recommended agreement to the commission for approval.
No contract award was made at the workshop. The deadline is procedural: it allows procurement to collect commissioners’ evaluations and for the manager to begin financial and technical follow-up with the ranked proposers, procurement staff said.
The council also clarified that county rules restricting commercial uses on park-designated lands and Florida procurement law will constrain what can ultimately be approved.
