Osei said advisory committee members independently score nominations based on artwork, community involvement and cultural relativity and that committee members do not influence each other's scores. She emphasized that the advisory committee makes recommendations but that the chief makes the final National Treasure selections.
Osei encouraged support for artists and listed exhibitions and shows: the Southeastern Indian Association show in Broken Arrow (opened July 1 and runs through Aug. 1) and a Martha Berry show at the Longview Museum in Longview, Texas, on view through Sept. 12. She also noted artists' participation in the hospital opening and encouraged committee members and the public to attend upcoming shows.
The committee had no questions and accepted the report. Osei thanked members for their support and closed her remarks.
