Town of Mountain: ambulance call volume rises, EMT resignation reported; fire departments pursue district and SOPs

Sup. Carey‑Mielke reported ambulance activity for August totaled 27 calls and year‑to‑date calls stood at 194. The minutes note a repair to a 2010 ambulance A/C unit and a brake inspection. The board also recorded the resignation of a full‑time Advanced EMT; no replacement timeline was provided in the minutes.
Fire Chief Giese updated the board on communications technology and interdepartmental coordination. He said a FirstNet representative had been contacted but had not returned calls, and he described ongoing collaboration among local departments to explore creating a formal fire district and to develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and standard operating guidelines (SOGs) to harmonize response across departments.
Chief Giese and board members also discussed a recent request from a company boring in the area that asked to fill a tanker at the fire department. The board asked staff to research what other municipalities charge for that service to ensure cost recovery if additional water use incurs expense.
CPR training was noted as continuing on the second Tuesday of each month at the Ambulance Garage. No motions or formal staffing authorizations tied to the EMT resignation were recorded in the minutes.
