Seven Towns councils meet in Riverview; routine approvals, public-safety and municipal updates discussed

The Seven Towns meeting convened at 6:30 p.m. on July 17 at Riverview Town Hall, where Riverview Chairperson Jim Zittlow called the session to order and roll call and the Pledge of Allegiance were completed. The agenda and the minutes of April 24, 2024 were approved on motions that carried.
The meeting featured a series of brief presentations and operational updates from local and county officials. Richard Heath, the newly appointed Oconto County administrator, opened with a welcome and a summary of county projects including work on buildings in Riverview and Oconto Falls. Deputy Andy Dryja provided an overview of sheriff's office activities and staffing in Todd Skarban's absence and answered a question about radio equipment updates.
Other presenters included Jayme Sellen of TEDCOR, who outlined needed tower repairs, plans for a 2025 Discovery Guide, short-term rental compliance work and active grants; Ryan Giese, the county animal-control officer, described plans to expand municipal animal-control services and discussed kennel-related standards; and Andrew Stemp (Town of Doty) summarized the community Smokey the Bear ride and updates on fire and ambulance collaboration. Philip Christenson, chair of the Town of Breed, raised concerns about CDL exemptions and distributed a handout for interested attendees.
Motions to approve the agenda and the minutes were moved and seconded by members present and were recorded as carried. Brenda Carey-Mielke moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:50 p.m.; Monica Zeller seconded and the motion carried. The group set the next meeting for Oct. 16, 2024 at 6:30 p.m.
