District staff provided the board with the annual review of emergency action drills and recent safety upgrades.
A presenter summarized unannounced drills conducted at district schools and described partnerships with the Nekoosa Police Department and school resource officers (SROs) who pre-teach ALICE lockdown and evacuation procedures. The presenter said drills at different buildings took from about five to 20 minutes, "with no issues that came up," and that staff followed up on questions raised by teachers and guest staff.
The presenter also reported upgrades to flashing notification lights in some spaces and continued camera rollout across buildings. When asked, the presenter said interior and exterior door checks are completed continuously and that additional entrance rework would be considered during any future referendum discussion.
The Chair called for a motion to approve the review of emergency action drills; a board member moved, another seconded and the motion carried by voice vote. The transcript does not include a roll-call tally.
The board thanked staff and emphasized continuing the current safety checks and camera work.
