Epping selectmen elect new chair and reshuffle committee oversight

The Epping Board of Selectmen on March 16 elected Pamela Tibbetts as chair and Caitlin McCormack as vice-chair during its annual reorganization meeting. The board approved the leadership changes by unanimous vote.

The reorganization included appointments to external and internal bodies. Selectman Joe Trombley was approved as the board’s representative to the Planning Board (motion carried 4-1; Trombley abstained on the vote regarding that seat) and Chairman Tom Gauthier was named the alternate. Selectman McCormack was approved as the board’s representative to the Budget Committee (motion carried 4-1; McCormack abstained) with Gauthier serving as alternate.

The board assigned departmental oversight roles: Tibbetts will oversee the Library, Recreation and the Police and Fire departments (with Selectman Cliff Cray as alternate oversight for Police and Fire); Gauthier will oversee Water and Sewer; Cray was assigned Public Works oversight; McCormack will oversee ETV; and McCormack and Tibbetts will serve as School Board information coordinators. All oversight motions carried by voice vote where recorded.

Selectmen framed the reorganization as a routine, procedural step to align liaisons and committee representation after the election cycle. The board took no substantive policy action as part of the reorganization; most votes were procedural confirmations of who will serve as the town’s contacts for committees and departments.

The board adjourned later after returning to non-public session for a personnel matter.
