The Oak Grove Board of Aldermen used the Jan. 5 meeting to recognize local volunteers and responders. The mayor read a proclamation thanking local and regional responders for their work after a Dec. 10 Interstate‑70 collision near Oak Grove that released about 13 cattle; the proclamation named the Oak Grove Police Department, Snai Valley Fire, Oak Grove Animal Control, Pleasant Hill Animal Clinic (Dr. Susan Casentino) and several local ranchers and businesses for their assistance.
"We're just so thankful that each and every one of you showed up and were there for us," the mayor said while presenting framed proclamations and inviting responders for photographs.
The board also honored Saint Jude Catholic Church volunteers for running the 'Spirit of Christmas' free breakfast with Santa since 2019 and for making blankets for the animal shelter. Later the mayor recognized a neighborhood hot‑cocoa fundraiser run by local families that raised $917.50 for the Community Service League; the mayor presented framed proclamations to the children and thanked parents for their participation.
These recognitions were ceremonial; no formal board action beyond proclamations was required.
