Oak Grove honors longtime employees and donates $9,755 to Community Service League

Mayor Dana Webb opened the Jan. 20 Board of Aldermen meeting by recognizing four city employees for decades of service and presenting a donation to a local charity.
The board honored Brandon Groat (25 years, police department), Jim Armstrong (30 years, parks department), David Graham (40 years, not present), and Mark Sherwood (45 years, emergency services). "Your years of service live within the many projects that you've completed," Webb said, thanking the honorees for their combined 140 years of service to Oak Grove.
The mayor then presented a check from the mayor's Christmas tree fund to the Community Service League and said the fund raised $9,755 this season. "It's $9,755," Webb said when announcing the total. Amanda Doss accepted the check on behalf of the Community Service League.
Pastor Pete of the Minister Alliance opened the meeting with a prayer asking for guidance and expressing gratitude for volunteers and board members. "...just guide them and ask in Jesus' name," Pastor Pete said.
The donations and recognitions were presented as part of routine new-business presentations; no formal board action was required beyond the ceremonial acknowledgement. The board took a group photo following the presentations.
