Lamson Farm Commission agrees to work with NRPC to map trails and produce a kiosk brochure

Tom Wahle introduced Nashua Region Planning Commission (NRPC) staff Sarah Siskavich and Emily Pray to present a regional "Trail Atlas" and a possible Lamson Farm mapping project. NRPC staff showed 11x17 proofs and described an online, searchable atlas that can produce downloadable PDF maps and kiosk-ready art.
"This is a 'transportation resource' for the towns in the NRPC region," Sarah Siskavich said, explaining that the NRPC secured a Transportation Grant that will fund mapping work for member towns at no charge to Lamson Farm. NRPC offered to format brochure content provided by the Lamson Farm Commission (LFC) and deliver an electronic file for the commission to print as needed.
Commissioners discussed access and grant conditions. Zoe Fimbel noted a stipulation from the Lamson family that the property provide protected open space for Mont Vernon residents, and she acknowledged that other grants require the property be open for "public use." Tom Wahle added that portions of Lamson Farm were purchased with federal grant money and must be accessible to the public, while Kevin Pomeroy clarified that about seven acres immediately around the house and barn are reserved for town use only.
Commissioners and NRPC staff agreed on next steps: LFC will arrange a field walk to verify trails and GPS data; Tom Wahle will act as the LFC liaison to NRPC and will locate and share an existing stone-wall map with NRPC. The commission supported placing a kiosk map that includes the Archibald trails and asked NRPC to include QR codes linking to extra information for visitors with cell service. NRPC staff noted an option to host a downloadable map for a small donation and said brochure content could include plant and habitat information, historical notes and photos.
The discussion concluded with NRPC staff and Jon Young of the Conservation Commission leaving the meeting. The commission agreed to prioritize the kiosk map for Lamson Farm and to pursue brochure printing later.
