Mayor Dana Webb read the proclamation’s 'whereas' clauses, highlighting Mitchell’s leadership, innovation and work to strengthen communication between schools and the community. The mayor told Mitchell “you have done a phenomenal job” broadening community engagement; the board formally congratulated him and proclaimed the day in his honor.
The board thanked Mitchell for bringing a large community turnout to the meeting and recognized the value of community engagement in city events.
