The Oak Grove Board of Aldermen unanimously authorized a contract with Advanced Asphalt on April 6 to carry out the city’s 2026 street preservation program.
Matt told the board the street preservation program’s remaining budget is $1,019,798, reflecting the original $900,000 budget, earlier overlays and the recent budget amendment. The sealed-bid process produced six bids ranging from roughly $899,292 up to $1.5 million; Matt said the $1.5 million offer was an outlier and most bids clustered within about $100,000. The proposed contract includes the base bid, the alternate that covers Robinson and White roads, a 7% contingency and a not-to-exceed $50,000 asphalt-price-index protection to guard against binder-price increases, yielding a total not-to-exceed contract amount of $1,019,798.
Board members asked for clarity about which streets are in the package; staff confirmed the yellow-highlighted streets in the packet constitute the proposed 2026 overlay list and explained selection considers pavement condition, traffic and grouping nearby streets to preserve continuous pavement quality. The board asked staff to publish maps and a schedule so residents know when each street will be resurfaced.
A motion to approve the contract was made, seconded and carried on a voice/roll-call vote. The board instructed staff to keep the community informed as work proceeds.
