CIP committee schedules site visits to DPW, fire department and library to prepare presentations

The Advisory Capital Improvement Plan Committee scheduled a series of site visits to gather on‑the‑ground information ahead of summer CIP presentations. Members set next‑week visits at DPW/Solid Waste (2–4 p.m.), the Fire Department (4 p.m.) and the Library (5 p.m.) to review needs and to collect photographs and condition notes that will inform project requests.

Committee members said the visits will help the group move from a paper review to a practical assessment of priorities. A committee member asked the group to consult prior engineering studies (one noted from 2021) during site visits so the committee can compare existing reports with current conditions and set priorities for repairs or code work such as windows, roofing and mold remediation.

The group also discussed scheduling visits to Town Hall, the Meeting House and the cemetery. The Meeting House committee has not yet been re-established; staff told members the reconstitution process has not started but confirmed the project remains a priority. Members noted Kelly Kostick’s evening availability the week of June 10–11 and suggested the committee pursue those dates for an evening meeting if Thursday scheduling remains preferable.

Committee members said these site visits will be used to create diagrams and prioritization lists for presentation to voters and to help the select board and department heads plan funding requests and maintenance budgets. No formal votes were taken; the committee set dates and asked staff to notify department heads so presenters can come prepared.
