Osage Beach moves to adopt 2024 international and 2023 national electrical codes; first readings advance

Building Official Ron White presented a package of ordinance updates to bring Osage Beach’s adopted construction and safety codes into alignment with the current International Code Council publications.
"I am requesting authorization to update our adopted 2018 international codes to the currently published 2024 international codes and 2023 national electrical code," White said, noting the city and neighboring jurisdictions have coordinated a phased enforcement schedule to reduce burdens on ongoing projects.
White said the city provided public notice beginning Nov. 20, 2025 and that proposed amendments had been circulated; he emphasized that existing projects permitted under previous codes would not be forced to retroactively comply. "There'll be no retroactive enforcement," he said.
The Board approved first readings on a set of ordinances amending multiple chapters of the Osage Beach code (building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, property maintenance, fire and related sections) and directed staff to finalize details; members asked for a clear list of substantive changes and confirmation that permit fees would not change.
Next steps: Staff will provide amendment details and a phased implementation schedule; the ordinances will return for subsequent readings as required by the municipal code.
