Park Director Doug Meyers told the Palmyra Parks & Recreation Board that a contractor submitted a $598,000 bid for the Missouri Trail project, leaving an estimated funding shortfall of about $245,000 after accounting for identified funding sources.
Meyers said known project funding includes a $250,000 Missouri Trail Grant and a Hutcherson Family Memorial donation of $103,616.82; the bid came from Bleigh. Meyers said he has contacted the grant administrators and believes the project does not need to be rebid if the board and staff keep working with the project liaison to identify cost reductions.
Board members were informed that staff will continue to explore cost-saving options and remain in contact with grant administrators; no final procurement decision was recorded at the meeting. The board did not take a formal vote to increase project funding during the session.
