Greenfield DPW seeks F350 replacement and will pilot recycled material on Miner Road

The Town of Greenfield Selectboard heard at its May 27 meeting from DPW Director Jim Morris about immediate vehicle and maintenance needs for the department. Morris said the town’s F350 requires replacement because of ongoing repair issues and that the DPW needs an additional small pickup because it currently has more drivers than vehicles.
Morris also outlined plans to pursue possible sidewalk work near the Greenfield Public Library and said the department will contact the State to schedule a public hearing so residents can review options. On road maintenance, Morris said the DPW will pilot a recycled material on Miner Road intended to mitigate potholes and mud; he warned the material will darken the surface and may almost look paved.
Chairman Tom Bascom and Selectboard members heard the DPW’s operational concerns but no procurement decisions were recorded at the meeting. The board did not take formal action on vehicle replacement or the Miner Road trial; follow-up steps will depend on vendor estimates, the State public hearing scheduling for sidewalks, and the DPW’s evaluation of the trial material.
