"I really am honored to serve in this role and appreciate not only the confidence that you have in me, but the confidence that you have in the people in this room," he said, adding that district staff and cabinet members "are the best of the best."
The motions approved were framed as contingent on execution of a formal employment contract; the board did not discuss contract details in open session. The clerk's announcement at the meeting also recorded that no action had been taken during the earlier executive session where the personnel topics were discussed.
