The Peculiar Board of Aldermen on Jan. 5 adopted an ordinance rezoning Lot 57 — a roughly 0.852-acre parcel near the southwest corner of Willow Lane and South Peculiar Drive — from C-1 (General Business) to R-3 (Multiple-Family Dwelling).
Staff presented the second-reading report and noted that the planning commission voted unanimously, 7–0, to recommend approval. The staff presentation identified the applicant as Jarnel Sarai of JM Sarai LLC.
The board accepted the second reading by title; the clerk read the ordinance caption aloud: "An ordinance rezoning from C-1 general Business district to R-3 multiple family dwelling district, all that portion of Lot 57 consisting of 0.852 acres more or less in the existing Westfield Subdivision generally located South Of Willow Lane and West of South Peculiar Drive in the city of Peculiar, Cass County, Missouri." On approval the item was recorded as Ordinance 01052026. A roll-call vote was recorded and the ayes carried.
Board members did not raise substantive amendments at the second reading; staff said the rezoning accommodates setback and lot‑coverage adjustments included in the approved motion and that no further hearings were required. The ordinance takes effect as described by the city clerk and staff will complete any ministerial steps required to update zoning maps.
The applicant’s name and the planning-commission recommendation were entered into the record during the second reading.
