The Merrimack Valley Historical Society elected Dennis Oliver as chair and Jeff Titter as vice president by acclamation during its regular meeting. A member moved to add "election of officers" to new business and members approved the amendment to the agenda by voice vote.
"Mister chairman, I nominate Dennis Oliver to be chairman of the committee," said Jeff Titter, who moved the nomination. A motion to close nominations and elect by acclamation passed, and members voiced their approval. Members also nominated Jeff Titter for vice president and approved that selection by voice.
Board members noted that the societys secretary and treasurer functions are handled by staff, so the only elected posts were chair and vice president. The results were recorded as election by acclamation; the transcript shows approval by voice rather than a roll-call tally.
The board set its next regular meeting for Wednesday, July 8 at 5:00 p.m. in the chambers.
