A contract with Pacific Partnership Inc. that combines a downtown revitalization public–private effort with rodeo-event procedures drew questions about financial transparency and was tabled for further review.
Several aldermen said the partnership has not consistently provided financial reports. One member asked that payments be withheld until partnership financial statements are produced quarterly as specified in the agreement. The board amended the rodeo-language so the partnership would have the right to renegotiate the rodeo contract if the annual agreement were renegotiated or the funding amount changed.
Following discussion and a procedural motion, the board voted to table consideration of the contract until after additional review (and noted it should be considered by the tourism committee and that the partnership should provide required financial statements). The attorney will incorporate requested language and return the contract for board consideration.
