She outlined current and upcoming exhibits and events: a quilt exhibit running through Sept. 15 with an open-house for quilters this Sunday, an MG car cruise planned Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the Big Boy Whistle Stop scheduled for July 20. The director said Union Pacific told staff to expect "a minimum of 1,000 people" to attend the whistle-stop event, and the society is coordinating with police and the fire department for road and safety support.
The director also reported coordination with neighboring historical societies and invited board members to participate at the July event. She said model-train displays and food vendors will augment the public program. The board thanked staff for the turnout and asked that event logistics be communicated to volunteers and that photos be collected for promotion.
Board members agreed to publicize the events and recommended using the society's outreach channels and partnering local businesses to help manage expected crowds.
