The Merton Community School District board on March 23 approved a binding master agreement with the Arrowhead United Teachers Organization that applies a 2.63% compensation increase to teacher pay and approved matching 2.63% increases for administrators and instructional specialists.
Administration described the negotiations committee process and the calculation used to arrive at the per-teacher average increase: "For every teacher, 1.0 full time teacher, they will receive a $1,741.60 raise," an administrator said, explaining the district multiplied districtwide salaries by 2.63% and divided by the number of returning teachers to arrive at the figure.
The board moved and approved the master agreement by voice vote. In related business, the board approved a 2.63% salary increase for administrators (discussed in closed session earlier this year) and for instructional specialists for the 2026–27 school year; a board member noted a personal inclusion in the administrative adjustment and the board handled the motion accordingly.
Administrators said the 2.63% figure reflects the maximum Consumer Price Index (CPI) the district agreed to in negotiations and that loyalty provisions and the overall compensation structure remain intact. The board recorded the motions and approved all items during the meeting.
