Platte County approves narrow 2025 budget amendments including $150,000 general fund increase

The Platte County Commission on Dec. 1 adopted targeted amendments to the county’s 2025 budget after a public hearing and presentation by County Auditor Kevin Robinson.
Robinson told commissioners the amendments affect multiple funds, including the assessor’s fund; victims’ domestic violence fund; park sales tax funds for Parkville and Riverside; stormwater; and general county services. He said the county proposes a $150,000 increase on the general fund expense side, a $70,000 increase for Riverside and a $5,000 increase for Parkville. Robinson also said the victims fund would record roughly $6,000 in additional collected revenues to cover anticipated disbursements and that small payroll adjustments — for example, about $300 in additional salary and roughly $400 in benefits in stormwater — were needed to cover the year’s payroll. He said an assessor‑related fund needs about $14,000 to cover salaries.
“So, commissioners, before you, not a lot of items, but you will notice that 5 of the 8 items are all related to a TIF expense,” Robinson said in explaining the package, and added that revenues are sufficient to cover the proposed increases.
After the auditor’s presentation, the public hearing was closed and the commission moved to adopt the amendments. The motion to approve the amendments (listed as 2025CO163) carried unanimously on roll call.
The commission did not amend the package on the dais and did not receive public comment during the hearing. The changes are amendments to the adopted 2025 budget; Robinson said supporting documentation had been posted online and made available in his office before the hearing.
The commission returned to other business after the vote; there was no immediate direction given that would alter the adopted amendments.
