Drainage committee cancels Bayou Napoleon CEA, authorizes culvert inspection and $8,000 temporary levee labor

The Drainage Committee voted to cancel the Intergovernmental CEA with the Lafourche Basin Levee District for Bayou Napoleon dredging, authorized an inspection of culverts from Texaco Street to Highway 70 (with right-of-way acquisition), and approved $8,000 from Ward 4 drainage funds for temporary levee labor on Georgette Street.
The Drainage Committee on June 24 approved cancelling an intergovernmental cooperative endeavor agreement (CEA) with the Lafourche Basin Levee District for dredging of Bayou Napoleon after Police Juror Leroy Blanchard reported the parish completed dredging using in-house crews. The committee approved the cancellation unanimously.
The committee also authorized an inspection to identify damaged or collapsed culverts from Texaco Street to the Highway 70 catch basin, and authorized the Parish Manager to secure right-of-ways from three property owners if needed and to allow the ADA to draft cooperative endeavor agreements with residents for repairs if culverts are found damaged.
The committee authorized an $8,000 allocation from Ward 4—s drainage funds for temporary levee improvements on Georgette Street to allow emergency repairs and parish labor to address levee breaches reported after a recent high-water event. The jury subsequently ratified those committee actions during the regular meeting.
