Chairman Leroy Blanchard and Parish Manager described accelerated damage from recent rain events and said immediate action was needed. Phase 1 scope approved by the jury includes roof evaluation, repairs to first-floor windows and walls (including Clerk of Court and District Attorney offices), restroom renovations, and purchase and installation of split A/C units for the upstairs courtroom. Phase 2 is scoped to include internal repairs to the District Attorney—s office building.
The jury allocated $1,000,000 for construction and $100,000 for architectural services from the parish—s 1% fund and authorized the Parish Manager to scope Phase 1 and advertise a 30-day bid. The motion passed unanimously.
The county—s emergency management director and architects will further assess stairwells, second-floor windows and courtroom tiles as part of RCIP and warranty reviews; the parish said the architect will provide additional documentation for bidding and insurance reimbursement efforts.
