Merton board elects officers, completes annual reorganization

The Merton Community School Board conducted its annual reorganization and elected board officers following the spring election. Nominations opened for president and, after a silent ballot tabulation, Dean was elected president and accepted the role. "Having received the majority of the votes, Dean is elected president," the presiding officer announced.
The board then selected Patrick as vice president, John as treasurer and Amanda as clerk by voice votes. Members discussed committee assignments—finance, policy and personnel, facilities, student achievement, negotiations and representation to CESA/WASB—and several members volunteered to continue or join committees; one negotiations seat remained to be filled.
Board members and administrators welcomed newly elected trustees Justin Kent, Dr. John LaFleur and Amanda Wise and acknowledged outgoing service. The reorganization was conducted under the district’s policy and in accordance with Wisconsin statute cited by the chair. The board confirmed a quorum for the reorganization and moved quickly through nominations, tabulation and voice votes to finalize leadership and committee assignments.
The board listed next steps for internal committee rosters and indicated they will publish meeting dates and committee memberships once confirmed.
