CDD counsel: ownership of Corkscrew Road remains disputed; Village hires Johnson Engineering to inspect streets

District counsel Tony Pires updated the River Ridge board on Nov. 19 that his view about ownership of Corkscrew Road west of U.S. 41 remains unchanged after retrieving files and prior documents. The Village of Estero has engaged Johnson Engineering to inspect streets, walkways and related infrastructure to identify needed repairs and determine responsibilities.
PSGRC President Neil Collins said town-hall discussions have focused on the intersection of U.S. 41 and the east side of Corkscrew Road; Mr. Wilhems (who participated in the study) confirmed the review will include the west side as well. Mr. Pires and Mr. Krebs gave an overview of the county's and the village's positions on ownership and maintenance responsibilities as informed by past memoranda and documents.
Mr. Pires said he will forward contact information for Apple Signs to Mrs. Adams for follow-up. The board did not take formal action at this meeting; staff will report back as the engineering inspection and document review progress.
