City Manager Winters told the council the city had joined the National Opioid Settlement and that FY2024 did not include budgeted revenue from that settlement. As of July 31 the city had received $141,452.17 that had not been included in the budget, and staff requested a budget amendment to record the revenue.
Winters said uses for the settlement funds are restricted to activities that combat opioid addiction and that staff would monitor eligible uses and present spending proposals for council consideration. The council moved the amendment to the September 3 voting session by motion and second.
No specific spending projects were approved at this meeting; staff will bring project proposals to the council for future approval.
